Minimum Age

  • At least 21 years of age

Minimum Experience (tractor Trailer/OTR)

  • At least 1 year of OTR tractor/trailer experience within the past 5 years, with 6 months commercial experience in the past 2 years in a sleeper truck (Will accept 6 months recent just tractor trailer driving for OTR positions ONLY. Day cab is fine.)

  • Verifiable military driving experience will be considered if a driver also has 9 months OTR experience

* Local Experience: If they have a year of prior otr/regional (sleeper cab and multiple states) we will consider local as their 6 months recent.  However, the local can’t be part of their 1 year total. 

* OTR defined as 2 or more states

* Flatbed applicants DO NOT need Flatbed experience, they will train!

Moving Violations (max in 3 year period)

  • No more than 4 in the past 3 years

  • No more than 2 in the past year

* Any cell phone violation MUST be outside of 3 years

Policy on License suspensions

  • License suspensions for financial reasons will be considered

DOT Recordable Accidents

  • No more than 3 chargeable minor accidents in the past 3 years

  • No more than 2 chargeable accidents in the past year  

No major chargeable accidents in the past 3 years

  • Head-On collision

  • Rear-end collision

  • Ran off the road

  • Fatality 

  • Hit & Run

  • Failure to report or leaving the scene of an accident

  • Improper lane change

Incidents (max in 3 year period)

  • No more than 3 in the last 3 years

  • No more than 2 in the past year

 No serious traffic violations in the past 3 years;

Felony Convictions - How old must they be?
Based off the conviction date? What are the "silver bullets"?

  • Felony convictions within the past 10 years from conviction date will be considered on a case by case basis

  • No patterns of drug related convictions; no more than 2 in the past 10 years

* All other charges will be reviewed

Misdemeanors- How old must they be?
Automatic DQ's?

  • Misdemeanors will be reviewed on a case by case basis

DUI/DWI- What is the max number and what
time frames do they need to fall outside of?

  • None within the past 10 years

  • If there is more than 6 months before it expires & Driver has Long Form, no DOT Physical is required

  • All other Drivers will do physical at Koch's orientation

How is Driver Vacation Calculated?  

  • Vacation pay is based on your previous year's base rate earnings, including ancillary pay. It is calculated a 1/52 of your pay from anniversary date to anniversary date, but not including any incentives, commissions or bonuses. Hourly drivers are paid 40 hours at current hourly rate of pay
