Pre-Qualifications

Minimum Age

  • At least 21 years of age

Minimum Experience (Tractor Trailer/OTR)

  • At least 1 year experience in the past 3 years

  • At least 2 years experience in the past 5 years

  • Experience must be with comparable equipment (48 foot or longer)

*  Local experience will count if the driver has been driving in the same states as regional position

* For more information on what they will accept for comparable experience, please see the tab on their needs sheet labeled "Comp Equipment"

* Driver must have CDL from their current state residence

Moving Violations (max in 3 year period)

  • No more than 3 in the past 3 years

  • No more than 4 in the past 5 years

Policy on License suspensions

  • No suspensions for longer than 30 days in the last 3 years

  • Suspensions for Failure to Appear, Failure to Meet Financial Responsibility laws, unpaid tickets, or non-moving violation convictions are excluded and will be reviewed

* Time frames are determined from the beginning of suspension

Accidents

  • No more than 2 preventable accidents in the past 3 years

  • No more than 4 preventable accidents in the past 5 years

  • No preventable DOT recordable accidents in the past 5 years

  • Student Trainee Refresher Program - No preventable collisions in the last year

* At-fault DOT crash is a 5 year DQ

Maximum Major Moving Violation (in the last 3 years)

None in the past 3 years. No more than 1 in the past 5 years;

  • Speed exhibition, contest or drag race

  • Driving a CMV without obtaining a CDL

  • Operating a motor vehicle without the permission of the owner

  • Use of a cellphone while driving

  • Making improper or erratic lane changes

  • Following the vehicle ahead too closely

  • 15 mph above the posted limit

  • Speeding in school/work zone

  • No Reckless Driving in the last 5 years

Max. Number of Jobs- in the last 3 years

  • No more than 2 jobs in the past year

  • No more than 4 jobs in the past 3 years

  • No more than 8 jobs in the past 5 years

  • No Job-Hoppers!!! 

Policy Against Unemployment- even if it is accounted for

  • Less than 90 days - written letter/form acceptable

  • More than 90 days - wage and income transcript from IRS required

Terminated Applicants

  • If the driver was terminated from their last job please supply ample notes so a decision can be made. Do not consider the app if the termination was due to safety reasons.

  • Drivers that live outside a 30 mile radius of an Epes terminal will be allowed to take the unit home

  • A driver must have a safe place to park the truck and trailer together.  Epes does not allow dropping if they take tractor home.

  • We do NOT have APUs. Instead there is no idle restriction and we allow inverters up to 1500 watts

  • Mostly home weekly unless the driver chooses to stay out longer

  • Costs for Driver's lodging will be paid only when approved by Driver Manager

  • Weekend layover - $75.00

Dock Detention Pay

  • $15.00 per hour after 2 hours from the appointment time while waiting at the customer facility for loading and or unloading

  • Maximum 8 hours

Multi-Stop Pay

  • $35.00 for each intermediate stop for partial loading and/or unloading excluding the initial pickup and the final destination

New York City

  • $125.00 for delivering in NYC, the boroughs or the island

Bonus

  • See "Driver Needs" - Available for some Local positions only

  • Regional and OTR Drivers can receive a monthly bonus based on truck utilization:

    Regional:  if they get 8,600 miles for the month, they get .02 bonus per mile.

    OTR: if they get 9,600 miles for the month, they get .02 bonus per mile.

    That bonus is tracked from the 1st day of the month to the last day of the month. It is paid in a separate check

Rider Policy

  • Employed for at least 30 days

  • No preventable accidents in the last 6 months

  • Must be at least 13 years old

  • No female riders upon pregnancy

  • May not operate equipment or assist in handling cargo

  • Cost is $21.80 per month
