Pre-Qualifications

Minimum Age

  • At least 22 years of age

Minimum Experience (tractor Trailer/OTR)

  • 3-6 months experience with 1 carrier - See 3-6 months in the past 3 years or 1 year experience in the past 5 years

  • At least 6 months experience: Will accept 3 months dry box or reefer and the other 3 can be tanker, flatbed or a combination of the two.  

*** Experience must in a 53 ft trailer or more

*** Will consider Military experience if the Driver has a way to provide proof

*** Driver MUST have at least 6 months experience to apply if they have completed an SAP!

Moving Violations (max in 3 year period)

  • No more than 3 in the last 3 years

  • Seat belt violations count as moving violations.

Accidents

  • No more than 2 preventables in the past 3 years

  • Serious accidents (Rollovers, Rear-Ends, Sideswipes, Low Bridge & Jackknife) MUST be outside of 3 years for them to consider

Maximum Major Moving Violation (in the last 3 years)

  • No 20 mph over the speed limit in the past 5 years

  • No Careless/Reckless in the last 5 years

Max. Number of Jobs- in the last 3 years

  • Will Review

Policy Against Unemployment- even if it is accounted for

  • Drivers need to account for any time of unemployment

Policy on Terminations

  • Will review

  • No terminations for safety reasons

Felony Convictions - How old must they be?
Based off the conviction date? What are the "silver bullets"?

  • Felonies must be at least 5 years old from the conviction date

  • No drug/alcohol refusals with a CDL

* All other charges will be reviewed

* Go by conviction date

Misdemeanors- How old must they be?
Automatic DQ's?

  • All charges will be reviewed

DUI/DWI- What is the max number and what
time frames do they need to fall outside of?

  • No DWI or DUI in a lifetime

Is Hazmat Required? Is there a grace period for
driver to obtain it?

  • Hazmat is optional - 10% of loads

Reimbursed for Haz-Mat?

  • Yes

Other Endorsements Required

  • Tanker & HazMat endorsements required if they want to haul Hazmat

  • HazMat needed for Texas OTR

* They will give the Driver 90 days to obtain 

DOT Physical Requirements

  • Metropolitan will do physicals on all new drivers regardless of how much time they have on their physicals

*** Med Card cannot be expired

Other Automatic DQ's.

  • Failed or Positive Drug/Alcohol Test - Drivers that have gone through SAP program and are certified to be hired.

  • This is a second chance program, so the Driver WILL NOT qualify if they have taken a job after completing the SAP program. 

  • Only 1 allowed in a lifetime

Home Time / Days Out 

  • OTR - Out 12 days max (home every other weekend) 

  • OTR - Drivers that stay out 30 days can get home for 4 days

  • Regional - Out 5 days home every weekend

  • 4 Day Work Week: Work Monday thru Thursday - Be home sometime after 5 pm on Thursday and then off for 72 hours

Average Weekly Pay  

  • $1100 Minimum Pay

* Drivers with a hazmat endorsement will still be paid .10 cents per mile more every time they haul a placarded hazmat load.
